With Craft Fairs out of the question this year, many photographers are turning to online platforms to sell their photographs. However, it can be quite overwhelming for those who haven't fully immersed themselves into the land of digital marketing. We're here to help! Here are some ways you can market your photographs digitally.
1. Include your shop URL in your email signature
This is an easy one! Take your shop URL and in your email go to Settings and then Signature. Paste your shop URL there so that every time you send an email the recipient also sees the link to your shop.
Have you attended craft fairs in previous years? Did you collect emails at them from interested shoppers? If so, then utilize it! Send out an email to that list introducing your new shop with the link and some images of what will be featured. An easy way to get in front of people who are already familiar with your work.
3. Social Media
Don't have an email list? No worries! Take your shop link to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or Twitter. Whatever you have already will work. Share this link with your family and friends on social media and ask them to share as well. This will help get the word out about your shop among your circle of peers and generate traffic to your shop.
Blogging is a great tool to get in front of your target audience. Think about who typically buys your photos. What are their interests and hobbies? Curate content directed at your audience and they will be reading those posts in no time! This is a great way to also plug your business, so try to keep the topics relevant to your photography in some way. And always be sure to include links to your shop in each blog.
5. Utilize Custom Printing
When you sell your photos, especially if they are in cards (see what we did there), be sure to have custom printing on the back with your shop name and contact information. This will keep people coming back, and if they gift the card to someone else it will tell them where they can buy it too! Free marketing is never a bad thing!
You don't have to pay a fortune to get the word out about your online shop. Using these tips will be a great way to jumpstart your online presence and build your brand.
